who I am
Lucas Q Films is a personal filmmaking and photography studio based in New York’s Capital Region. In this notice, “I,” “me,” and “my” refer to Lucas Q Films. If you have any questions about your information, email me at lucasqphotos@gmail.com.
information you share with me
When you send an inquiry or email me, I receive the details you choose to share, such as your name, email address, who the film is about, your story or occasion, timing, filming location, and investment range.
If we work together, you may also share photographs, home videos, and other family materials, and I record interviews and footage as part of your project.
how website inquiries reach me
Forms on this website are processed by Squarespace, which hosts the site. Squarespace stores each submission in my account and sends a copy to my email inbox, which is provided by Google (Gmail). Emails you send me directly are also handled by Gmail.
information collected automatically
Squarespace uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, protect forms from spam using Google reCAPTCHA, and give me basic visitor statistics such as page views. The site also loads a Google Analytics tag. Squarespace’s privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy explain how they handle this information.
how I use your information
- to respond to your inquiry and prepare a proposal
- to plan, film, edit, and deliver your project
- to communicate with you about scheduling, payments, and feedback
- to improve my website and services
I do not sell or rent your personal information.
your story stays private by default
Personal films often hold private family memories, so confidentiality is the default. Your interviews, photographs, footage, and finished film are not shared publicly unless you give separate permission. Your project agreement asks for three kinds of permission, and each one is your choice:
- Production: permission to use the service providers and tools described below to store, process, edit, and deliver your film. This is needed to make your film.
- Private sharing: who receives your finished film. I deliver it privately to you and to anyone you name.
- Public use (optional): whether I may feature clips, stills, or a testimonial from your project in my portfolio, on my social media pages, or on this website. You can say yes to all, some, or none of these.
You can change your public-use choice at any time by emailing me. I will remove material I control within 14 days, although copies others have already shared may be outside my control. Raw footage and full interview recordings are never shared publicly.
service providers that help me make your film
Producing and delivering a film requires software and services, such as website hosting, email, cloud storage and file transfer, editing software, and private video delivery. These providers may store or process your information, including interview audio, video, and transcripts, so I can provide my services. This is different from public sharing: it is part of making your film and is covered by your production permission.
AI-assisted tools
Some of the tools I use include AI features, for example to transcribe interview audio or help organize footage. When I use them, your interview audio, video, or transcripts may be processed by that tool’s provider under its own terms. The storytelling and editing decisions are my own, and I do not use your materials to create artificial voices or likenesses of real people. If you would prefer that I not use AI-assisted tools on your project, tell me before we begin and we can discuss your options.
how long I keep information
I keep inquiry details for as long as needed to respond and follow up. Project files are kept for the period agreed in your project terms. You can ask me to delete your information at any time, unless I need to keep certain records for legal or tax reasons.
your choices
You can ask to see, correct, or delete the personal information I hold about you, or ask me to stop contacting you, by emailing lucasqphotos@gmail.com.
keeping information safe
I take reasonable steps to protect your information. No method of storing or sending information online is completely secure, so I cannot guarantee absolute security.
children
This website is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect their personal information through it. When a project involves a minor, such as a graduation film, I work directly with a parent or guardian.
other websites
This site links to other websites, such as YouTube and Instagram. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
